Chip Screen Case History - Scalping, Sizing and Sifting Technology
Background
Western Forest Products Inc. (WFP) is an integrated Canadian forest products company and the largest coastal woodland lumber producer in British Columbia. One of WFP's principal markets includes sawmilling whole logs into wood chips for coastal Pulp and Paper producers, and its full product lines are sold in over 20 countries worldwide. ChallengeFor their Duke Point sawmill, SKS Engineering was retained and BM&M was contacted to supply a new BM&M 8' wide x 18' long 2-Deck Chip Screen and to recommend OEM replacement parts to refurbish an older BM&M of similar size SolutionBM&M's design flexibility allowed both machines to utilize much of the existing support superstructure, conveyor layout and discharge chutes. The increased capacity also removed redundant systems, reducing annual energy and maintenance costs. The two Chip Screens each utilize a patented, lubed-for-life tapered roller bearing producing 100,000 hrs of maintenance-free design life. Both units were installed over a weekend, supported by a BM&M sales representative.
